Sprint Sled Dog Race

Denali National Park road lottery

During the second Friday-Monday weekend in September following Labor Day, the annual Denali National Park Road Lottery winners stream to the secluded preserve for one-day access to the main road leading into the park. This year 1600 winners were selected from a pool of 11,204 applicants. Post your pics and see how other winners enjoyed their time.

Heavy snow pounded Valdez and Cordova on January 6, 2012, after the town received 19.2 inches Thursday from the Prince William Sound blizzard, making for a season total of more than 20 feet. Meanwhile, Nome is having its worst cold spell since 1989.
