Brown Bears Visit Turnagain Mud Flats
Dozens of people were treated to the sight of two brown bears rooting around in the mud flats of Turnagain Arm just north of Bird Point Monday morning June 22, 2009. There have been many bear sightings in recent days along the bike trail in the area and the campground at Bird. Chugach State Park officials closed part of a popular bike trail in the area earlier last week due to the bears activities.
Photographer Bob Hallinen spent a recent afternoon documenting the late winter scenery of Turnagain Arm.
