Historic Railroad Track Maintenance Cars

The Motorcar Operators West club put their track speeders onto the rails of the Alaska Railroad on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Ship Creek Railroad yard. The 29 obsolete and restored railroad work cars will travel the the rails from Anchorage to Fairbanks, back to Anchorage then to Seward and Whittier in the next two weeks.

FIRST LEGO Robotics Competition

Rogers Park Elementary Cheese Ninjas team members Eric Tyskiewicz, Ryan Stiles, Kaden Caldarera,  Zack Steinberg, Alex Daskalos and Simon Mahns. Teams from across the state competed with their LEGO robot on the course on Saturday January 15, 2011 at Dimond High School. Teams build and program their robots built with LEGO parts to perform tasks on a standard course. They compete head to head in the FIRST LEGO League state wide competition.

Special Olympics Polar Plunge

Special Olympics Alaska's 2nd annual Polar Plunge at Goose Lake on Saturday December 18, 2010. Over 700 jumpers raised more then $275,000 by jumping into the near freezing water with air temperatures in the single digits.

Alaska Native Cultural School Concert

Students from the Alaska Native Cultural Charter School gave a performance for elders at the Kenaitze Pointe Cook Inlet Housing Authority Complex on Thursday December 16, 2010. The first through 7th graders sang songs in English and Yupik and performed a skit featuring rabbits among other wild creatures.
