Former Republican state representative from East Anchorage was convicted July 9 on bribery and other charges for taking payoffs from a consultant for a private prison company. Worked as a consultant for Veco, although none of the charges against him concerned the company. Sentencing Oct. 15.
BILL BOBRICK
Longtime lobbyist at the city level and one-time head of the Alaska Democratic Party, he pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy for bribing Anderson while working for a private prison company. (The company was unaware.) He testified against Anderson and is awaiting sentencing.
BILL ALLEN
Longtime Veco CEO, pleaded guilty in May to bribery and conspiracy for his dealings with four legislators. Admitted paying a bonus in company funds to executives for illegal campaign contributions in 2005 and 2006. Resigned after plea. Testified against Kott and awaits sentencing.
RICK SMITH
Veco vice president who ran the companys government affairs operations. In May he pleaded guilty to the same charges as Allen. He admitted, with Allen, to making more than $400,000 in payoffs to elected officials as well as making illegal campaign contributions. Resigned after plea, testified against Kott and awaits sentencing.
