Anderson was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of taking a nearly $24,000 bribe during an FBI sting.
Anchorage TV station KTUU reports that his prison term starts on Monday.
Anderson was a two-term Republican from Anchorage who chose not to run for re-election in 2006.
He was convicted in July of seven federal counts of conspiracy and bribery.
Anderson's wife, Sen. Lesil McGuire, and his young son will remain in Alaska.
