As would be expected, ACS led the way with three of the 10 spots on the team. But for the Lions it all starts with Simmers.
The 5-10 forward, a versatile blend of length and athleticism, shredded the tourney competition for 21.3 points (on 63 percent shooting), 10.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals a game.
Joining Simmers on the all-tourney squad were her sister Debbiey, a 5-11 sophomore forward, and Chelsea Dyson, a 5-6 junior point guard.
While Anna handled the bulk of the scoring, Debbiey crashed the boards (4.7 rpg) and played the passing lanes for 2 steals a night. Dyson ran the show on offense and chipped in 9 points with 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.3 steals a game.
Barrow, the state runner-up, nabbed two all-tournament picks: seniors Jennifer Martelle and Princess Eduarte. Martelle, a 5-6 forward for the undersized Whalers, pitched in 14 points, 4.3 boards and 3.7 steals to help her team return to the title game.
Eduarte, a repeater from the 2004-2005 all-tourney team, bagged 8.7 points a game.
