A crew member of the Alaska Ranger is taken on board the Coast Guard Cutter Munro. The Coast Guard is responding to a sinking vessel with 47 people onboard 120 miles west of Dutch Harbor. The fishing vessel Alaska Ranger, based out of Seattle, began sinking at approximately 2:50 a.m. this morning, Sunday, March 23, 2008, when it notified the Coast Guard that it had lost control of its rudder and was taking on water.

Parks and Recreation Horticulture employees began installing about 1,300 hanging baskets in downtown Anchorage on Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012. Workers will begin planting about 8,000 flowers in Town Square Park this week. About 80,000 flowers, most of them started from seed, will be planted in beds throughout the municipality.

Anglers try their luck catching rainbow trout at the recently stocked Cheney Lake in East Anchorage on Monday, 21, 2012. According the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game website, Cheney Lake has been stocked twice this month, with over 600 large rainbow trout.
