U.S. District Court Judge Ralph Beistline split the difference between the minimum term of seven years and the 10 years asked for by federal prosecutors.
Beistline called the saga of the former prosecutor and son of a noted San Francisco trust attorney "a strange case" that he really didn't understand.
In accordance with federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence was 102 months.
