The project: Shooting range and clubhouse

The recipient: Tanana Valley Sportsmen's Association

The amount: $245,000 in two state grants

The argument: Their old facility burned down a year ago, and insurance paid $200,000. The total cost of the planned new building is $3.5 million for two bays of eight shooting lanes each and a classroom.

The purpose: Teaching Interior Alaska youths and adults safe use of firearms.

Other support: The insurance money, volunteer labor, fundraising, sale of their land.

Public review: None.

Is it a community priority? No.
