Perfect World co-editor Erin Britton is leaving and moving on to bolder endeavors. Erin, an East High School graduate, will attend the University of Chicago. First joining the staff her freshman year and assuming the role of co-editor her senior year, Erin has been an outstanding asset to the section. Erin's wit has guided Perfect World through another successful year, and she will be sorely missed. The whole staff wishes her good luck. Cheers! Or as Erin would say, Papayas!

Colby Bleicher, a senior at West High, is succeeding Erin as co-editor. Jose DelReal, a senior at East High, will retain his position as co-editor. To contact Jose or Colby, e-mail perfectworld@adn.com.

Pay tribute today to all-American rocker

It is common that I, among many, reflect on what best represents America on the Fourth of July. What is truly American? Is it a good old burger with a side of freedom fries ... er, um, "french fries"? Is it that favorite game of baseball? The sport that is loved by many including Fidel Castro. ... No, these are not truly American ideals, but there must be something. What best represents the spirit of the nation and the American dream? What does America have that the rest of the world doesn't? Bruce Springsteen, of course! This New Jersey native has created some of the most fervent American rock tunes ever made and continues to do so with last year's album "Magic" being his most recent work. He was "Born in the USA" and won't let you forget it. Here's a taste of this American rocker's amazing and soulful songs. • Born to Run • Atlantic City • Born in the USA • Dancing in the Dark • I'm on Fire • No Surrender • Thunder Road • Devils and Dust • Pay Me My Money Down • Radio Nowhere • Gypsy Biker • Last to Die
