Salmon anglers of all stripes should see a surge this weekend.
The first silver salmon of the season are streaming into Pony Cove outside Resurrection Bay, and the silver run is picking up closer to home in Ship Creek too. Meanwhile, king salmon anglers on the Kenai River are seeing the best surge of fish this season as the second run cranks up. More than 1,600 kings streamed past the sonar 8.6 miles upstream from the mouth on Tuesday, the best single day of 2008. And down at the mouth of the Kenai, red salmon dipnetters are reporting a bounty, too. For details, see the Fishing Report in Thursday's Daily News and at www.adn.com/fishing.
