AKIAK -- Alaska State Troopers on Tuesday identified the 6-year-old boy who was shot and killed by a playmate this weekend.
Dennis Dale Lamont was killed Sunday evening after he and an unnamed 7-year-old went into an abandoned house in the Western Alaska village and came across a high-powered Remington 700 rifle, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said.A "negligent discharge" took place when the older boy picked up the weapon, said troopers, who learned of the shooting at about 8:20 p.m. Troopers are not expecting to file charges, Peters said.
