Mirror Lake Rainbow Trout

A rainbow trout from last year's eggtake flows out an Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game truck into Mirror Lake on Thursday, May 24, 2012.  About 5,000 catchable rainbow trout, of the 340,000 trout raised this past year at the new William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery off Post Road in Anchorage, were released into Mirror Lake.  The remaining fish will be used to stock lakes throughout Alaska to enhance the sport fishing experience.

About 5,000 catchable rainbow trout from last year's eggtake were released into Mirror Lake by the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game on Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Hanging baskets

Justin Brown hangs an ivy geranium and lamiastrum basket along 6th Avenue in downtown Anchorage as Parks and Recreation Horticulture employees began installing about 1,300 hanging baskets on Tuesday morning, May 22, 2012.  Workers will begin planting about 8,000 flowers in Town Square Park this week.  About 80,000 flowers, most of them started from seed, will be planted in beds throughout the municipality.
