Booing rival students is poor sportsmanship

Last weekend I went to the Dimond vs. South varsity football game. I go to Dimond, so naturally I was on the Dimond side. Whenever students who went to South walked by, they were booed so loudly and violently that the football players on the sidelines turned around to see what was going on. Eventually a security guard came and told the people to knock it off; not only was it obnoxious, it was also rude and offensive. One of my best friends goes to South, and when she came over to visit me with some of her friends, we were not able to talk for the first couple of minutes because it was so loud.

I agree with friendly rivalry; it comes with the nature of sports. But let's leave it on the field. Just because we go to different schools doesn't mean we have to hate each other. If we lived in a different part of town we could just as easily be going to our rival school; the same friend lived in Dimond's boundaries and planned on going there through seventh grade until she moved inside South's boundaries.

Does it really matter what school we go to? Let's put it aside and not let our school alliances ruin our friendships.

Don't know musicals? Give your regards to these

I've always loved musicals, ever since I heard the soundtrack to "Les Miserables" and saw "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway. I still think it's outrageous that hardly anyone I know listens to musicals. Here is your chance to change with this list of some of my favorite songs from top Broadway musicals. No longer can "I don't know of any" be an excuse.

The American Dream -- "Miss Saigon"

Being Alive -- "Company"

I Am What I Am -- "La Cage Aux Folles"

Xanadu -- "Xanadu"

Oh What a Circus -- "Evita"

Do You Hear the People Sing? -- "Les Miserables"

He Lives in You -- "The Lion King"

Hair -- "Hair"

Everybody's Got the Right -- "Assassins"

Give My Regards to Broadway -- George M. Cohan
