Earlier this year, Levi Fox ribbed his 22-year-old sister Kristen for reading Cosmopolitan magazine. For revenge, she nominated him for the magazine's yearly bachelor contest.

This month, the magazine announced Fox was their pick from Alaska and is competing against 50 other bachelors for the $10,000 grand prize. The results are scheduled to be announced this morning on the "Today" show and on the magazine's Web site: www.cosmopolitan.com.

To say his sister is pleased with her prank is an understatement, said mother Cindy Fox.

"He will not get even for awhile for sure," she said.

Levi Fox was traveling in New York on Monday and couldn't be reached for comment.

To enter the contest, Kristen Fox went to her brother's Facebook page, snatched some of his photos and sent them to the magazine. She told her mother, but neither thought it would go anywhere, Cindy Fox said.

They were nearly speechless when Levi got a call from the magazine asking him to fly to New York in September for a photo shoot in the Hamptons.

"I started laughing," Cindy Fox said. "I was like, 'Can you believe you did this?'"

Cindy Fox said her son was initially reluctant to go, but eventually was sold on two free trips to New York and the $10,000 grand prize.

The hair and makeup for his photo shoot took two hours, and included having his chest shaved. He drew the line, however, at taking his shirt off.

"He just said no way," she said. "He had a farmer tan, but who knows (why)."

Although Cosmo's site encourages readers to send e-mail messages to Fox and the other bachelors, Cindy Fox didn't know if her son had received any missives.

"I honestly don't know if he's checked it or not," she said.

He also isn't expecting to parlay his brush with fame into a modeling or acting career. Rather, he's currently studying to become a commercial pilot at Embry Riddle aeronautical university in Arizona, his mother said.

Marisa Ollins, a spokeswoman for the magazine, said the contest is in its eighth year and attracts hundreds of entries. How many were submitted from Alaska she couldn't say.
