Capri Pizza is not your average pizzeria. In addition to classic toppings such as pepperoni and sausage, the Spenard spot serves up shish kebabs, gyro and tuna pies. In addition to cheese and veggie calzones, it also has one with gyro meat. The biggest detour from traditional fare may be the selection of Indian treats such as samosas and kebabs.
I was also impressed by the menu of Philly cheesesteaks and opted for the sandwich, salad and can of soda lunch special (available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily). The sandwich was smaller than I hoped, but I liked the thin slices of peppery meat and gooey cheese. The iceberg lettuce salad almost made up for it with its size and toppings of shredded mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, peppers and olives. For just less than $6, I felt like I got some bang for my bucks.
