Ed Hill placed on injured reserve

The Alaska Aces have placed veteran defenseman Ed Hill on the 30-day injured reserve list after he suffered a knee injury in last Saturday's 2-1 road win over the Idaho Steelheads.

Aces coach Keith McCambridge said Hill, an alternate captain, suffered a tear to his medial collateral ligament. The injury will not require surgery, McCambridge said, but will require several weeks of rehabilitation.

Hill was injured when defensive partner Corbin Schmidt delivered a hip check to a Steelheads player, who then rolled into Hill.

Meanwhile, defenseman Lee Green (shoulder) and winger Brett Hemingway (six stitches in his ankle) are day-to-day.

Hill joins winger Bo Cheesman on the 30-day IR. Cheesman still is recovering from preseason back surgery. The Aces on Friday open a three-game home series at Sullivan Arena against the Utah Grizzlies.
