The price of North Slope oil sold on West Coast open markets closed Tuesday at $49.89 a barrel, down $1.56 for the day.

U.S. natural gas, at the Lower 48's Henry Hub, was $6.75 per million BTU, up $0.20.

Gold closed at $732.60 per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down $9.30.
