WHAT: The Fort Richardson Health Clinic, a 36,390-square-foot structure, will provide primary health care service to active-duty soldiers stationed at Fort Richardson. Facilities include physical therapy, preventative medicine, behavioral health, patient exam rooms, labs, radiology, audio booth, optometry, pharmacy, provider rooms for troop physical exams, reception area in an open atrium, administration cubicles and medical records storage areas.

WHY: The Army is increasing the number of soldiers from 2,463 to 5,223 at Fort Richardson as part of the Army Modular Force re-stationing actions, according to Terry Stone, Army Corps of Engineers project manager. Re-stationing of soldiers has created a shortage of facilities for active duty medical care.

WHEN: The clinic is expected to open in the spring.
