WASHINGTON -- Alaska's representative, Republican Don Young, voted in favor of the auto industry bailout.
"Two months ago I voted against the bank bailout bill because I felt that was the right thing to do," Young said in a press release. "Tonight I voted for the automaker loan because I felt it was the right thing to do."
Young said a collapse of the domestic auto industry could imperil 3,600 jobs in Alaska. "This loan keeps money and jobs in the hands of hard-working Alaskans and not in the hands of extravagant CEO's," he said.
