Cordova snowstorm

Cordova residents are tunneling out after several snow storms moved through Prince William Sound.

January Valdez snowstorm

Heavy snow pounded Valdez and Cordova on January 6, 2012, after the town received 19.2 inches Thursday from the Prince William Sound blizzard, making for a season total of more than 20 feet. Meanwhile, Nome is having its worst cold spell since 1989.

State Hockey

The Lathrop Malemutes earned a 4-3 come from behind victory over the Chugiak Mustangs by scoring a goal with 8.7 seconds remaining in the third period to advance in the 2012 First National Cup Hockey State Championships at the Menard Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012.

The state hockey tournament started Thursday, February 9, 2012. The championship game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 11.
