Helen and Ret. U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Berkeley Ide of Anchorage celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 27 at the Crow's Nest in the Hotel Captain Cook. The event was hosted by their Alaska children, Donya and John Ide (twins) and daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Robert Buren. Their daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Patrick Lewis of Aurora, Colo., were unable to attend.
In a private dining room, the couple were presented with a framed picture from their wedding day. Donya brought a bakery copy of their wedding cake, and it was served as dessert. DVD copies of the wedding album were presented to daughters and son.
The Ides were married Sept. 27, 1938, in Scranton, Pa.
Daughter Donya wrote: "Since Dad's birthday is two days prior to the wedding, he always says his best birthday present was the year Mom and him got married. It's one gift he will never return."
Berkeley served in the Air Force with the 6981st Security Squadron and had tours in the Vietnam and Korean wars, Germany and multiple U.S. bases. He arrived at Elmendorf Air Force Base in July 1970 and retired in Anchorage in 1978. Berkeley is involved with the Korean War Veterans and VFW Post 1685. Helen stayed home with the children until the twins were in second grade. She then worked in various retail and secretarial jobs and is now retired.
DEC. 20, 1958 Joanne Okamoto Munger and Thomas Munger
Anchorage residents Joanne and Tom Munger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 20 with their adult children and their families at the Plaza III restaurant in Kansas City, Mo. They were married in Miami, Okla.
Joanne and Tom first met at church when Tom's family moved to Lawrence, Kan., where Joanne was living. After a few years, the couple moved to Kansas City, where both worked and attended classes at the University of Missouri. In May 1968, Tom graduated from the UM Dental School and volunteered to serve as a dentist at Elmendorf Air Force Base. In August 1968, the Mungers moved to Alaska, where Tom served until January 1972.
Since then, Tom has been a general dentist in private practice and has offices in South Anchorage and Homer. Their son, Jonathan, works for Costco in Overland Park, Kan. He has a 9-year-old son, Kyle Thomas. Their daughter, Stephanie Bessent, and her husband, Tony, live in Lawrence with their year-old daughter, Alainie Grace. Stephanie manages a dental office in Lawrence, and Tony works in construction.
The Mungers look forward to many more happily married years together enjoying Alaska.
SEPT. 20, 2008 Karin and Ryan McGillivray
Karin Little and Ryan McGillivray of Anchorage were married Sept. 20 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Bollerud officiated.
A reception was held at the Sheffield airport train depot. Guests included friends and family from Anchorage and Fairbanks as well as several from out of state, including Karin's aunt and uncle from Lauterach, Austria.
Caitlin Mitchell was maid of honor, and Carrie Lindow was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Justina Szal and Lisa Forsland.
Ryan's brother, Scott McGillivray, was best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Trent, Jack Little and Mike Forsland. Readings were given by Ryan's sister, Kelly Trent, as well as Karin's lifelong friend, Ursula Van Dam.
A fun-filled pre-wedding barbecue was hosted by Hollis and Henry Mitchell on Sept. 18 for those who traveled to Alaska for the wedding. Guests enjoyed Alaska salmon, bratwursts and burgers.
The couple will honeymoon in Hawaii in February.
Karin is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. CJ and Christa Little of Anchorage. She graduated from Dimond High School in 1998 and from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2003 with a degree in psychology. Karin is employed at Nana-Colt Engineering LLC as a material coordinator. She enjoys running, hockey, soccer and skiing.
Ryan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom and Sharon McGillivray of Anchorage. He graduated from Service High School in 1998 and from UAA in 2004 with a degree in journalism and public communications. Ryan is a real estate appraiser with Black-Smith, Bethard & Carlson. His hobbies include playing hockey, skiing, camping, hunting and fishing.

Melinda Allen and Mark Corsentino
Anchorage residents Melinda Allen and Mark Corsentino are planning their wedding for June 6 in Anchorage. Mark proposed to Melinda on her 30th birthday, just before a dinner date at their special restaurant, Jens'.
They met at Humpy's after a Christmas party in December 2005.
Melinda is the daughter of Kirk and Barb Allen. She graduated from Service High School in 1996. Melinda works as a sales manager at the Hotel Captain Cook.
Mark is the son of the late Anthony and Donna Corsentino. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Peoria, Ill., in 1995. Mark obtained a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering in 2000 from Marquette University and a master's degree in civil engineering in 2002. Mark is a registered professional engineer in Alaska and works as a civil engineer for Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility.
Melinda and Mark enjoy spending time with family, friends and in the outdoors with their two Labs, Haley and Sam.
They are planning a honeymoon, and they plan to start a family.
NOV. 25, 2008 Roberta Webb-Miljure and Joseph Miljure
Roberta Webb and Joe Miljure, both born in Anchorage, were married on Poolenalena Beach at sunset on Nov. 25 on the island of Maui in Hawaii.
They lived in the Lower 48 before settling back in Anchorage. Both are longtime employees of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Roberta works at the Alaska Native Medical Center as the auxiliary patient services coordinator, and Joe manages the Regional Suppply Service Center. They finally crossed paths in August 2003.
Roberta was given in marriage by her father and her son. Nephew Keanu Miljure of Anchorage was best man. Childhood friend Stacey Goslin of Milford, Ohio, was matron of honor. Nephew Talon Miljure was ring bearer.
A reception dinner for 15 relatives and friends was at Five Palms Restaurant.
Roberta is the daughter of Charles Webb and Olga Freisinger of Anchorage. She has one son, Christian.
Joe is the son of Joseph and Nieves Miljure of Tucson, Ariz.
