Fairbanks pub shuttle operator seeks to make it a mobile bar (Fairbanks Daily News-Miner): Tylan Martin wants a license to sell alcohol in an old school bus he uses to shuttle bar-goers around Fairbanks on the weekends. "That's a big thing that I keep getting from people: ‘It's a party bus. Why aren't we allowed to drink in here?'" His web site is here.

Let voters, not governors, fill Senate vacancies, says Begich (Daily News politics blog): Sen. Mark Begich has signed on to a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would end the practice of giving governors the power to appoint senators when vacancies occur. Sen. Lisa Murkowski was appointed by her father when he was Alaska governor.
