Spurr

Aerial view of Mount Spurr, center, and Crater Peak, right, as viewed from the south on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Mount Spurr is a volcano located about 80 miles west of Anchorage across Cook Inlet and last erupted two times (June and August) in the summer of 1992. During the August 1992 eruption, the ash cloud traveled 60,000 feet well into the stratosphere and winds carried it east and south across Anchorage and Turnagain Arm.
