Assembly sets up workshops to tackle $17 million budget deficit

A little worried about how the city is going to close that $17 million budget deficit Acting Mayor Matt Claman has been talking about? So is the Assembly. The group has set two workshops and two special meetings during the next month to quiz city officials and employees in detail about how spending and revenues matched up last year and so far this year, and what the outlook is for the rest of 2009.

• Friday, Feb. 13, work session in City Hall, first floor conference room.

• Tuesday, Feb. 17, special meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Assembly chambers in Loussac Library, 3600 Denali Street.

• Friday, March 6, work session in City Hall conference room.

• Tuesday, March 10, special meeting starts at 6 p.m. in Assembly chambers.
