A wide range of proposals are before the board to expand or restrict predator control in the state. Other issues of note include:

• Proposals to expand grizzly bear hunting in Chugach State Park to try to cut down on bear problems in Anchorage.

• A proposal to close wolverine trapping in the park, and various proposals to restrict where trapping can occur in the park so as to protect free-running dogs.

• Proposals to change the scoring for subsistence permits for Nelchina caribou to give a broader range of people a chance at obtaining permits.

• A proposal to give community or tribal permits to Nelchina caribou hunting groups in the Glennallen area.

• A proposal to close the trapping season for red fox on the Kenai Peninsula, where there are almost no red fox.

• Various proposals to restrict hunting in Alaska by non-residents, or to limit non-resident hunting permits to only a tiny percentage of permits issued.

• Various proposals to set seasons and bag limits for moose, caribou and other hunts.

The proposals on which public testimony will be considered cover hunting and trapping only in Game Management Units 6-11 and 13-17, although the board will discuss some proposals from other units that were deferred at previous meetings.

Public testimony before the board opens at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Anyone wishing to testify on any proposal to be reviewed during the board meeting must sign up at the Dena'ina center on or before 4 p.m. Saturday. Public testimony will continue until everyone on the sign-in sheet has been heard.

Written comments on specific proposals will be up until the time those proposals are deliberated. Written comments can be delivered to the board or faxed to 907-465-6094.
