The Anchorage Assembly's Community and Economic Development Committee is hosting the event.

"Saturday's forum is designed specifically to educate the public regarding the essential players and issues involved in major decisions that will be made in the near future regarding the future of energy generation, transmission and distribution in Anchorage," Sheila Selkregg, an Assembly member and committee chair, said in an e-mail.

Representatives from the Alaska Energy Authority, Enstar Natural Gas Co., Chugach Electric Association, Anchorage Municipal Light & Power, Tyonek Native Corp., the Renewable Energy Alaska Project and other organizations will take part in the forum.

The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Begich Middle School.
