Irene Tansy, 65, of Copper Center was pronounced dead at the scene after a medic and a trooper tried unsuccessfully to revive her using CPR.
According to the trooper's preliminary investigation, Irene Tansy was standing behind the pickup, directing her husband as he tried to back the vehicle toward the family's garage to unload a water tank.
With the pickup in reverse, Roy Tansy accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, the troopers said.
A call for help was received at 11:22 a.m., and troopers arrived at the scene at 11:45 a.m., according to the report. The investigation is continuing.
