Alaska Anchorage qualifies full team for NCAAs

The UAA ski team for the first time in its history has qualified a full complement of athletes -- 12 -- for the NCAA National Championships next week. The Seawolves will send six nordic skiers and six alpine skiers to nationals in Bethel and Rumford, Maine. The meet begins Wednesday.

Also, six of those national qualifiers this week were named all-conference in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association. Honored with first-team selections were: junior Raphael Wunderle (nordic, third straight first-team honor); freshman Sadie Bjornsen (nordic); and freshman Alex Parker (alpine). Second-team honorees from UAA were: freshman Halfdan Falkum-Hansen (alpine), sophomore Max Treinen (nordic) and freshman Jaime Bronga (nordic).

Joining those six at nationals will be alpine skiers Jonathan Hverven, Sandra MacDonald and Lacy Saugstad, and nordic skiers Lex Treinen, Sadie Bjornsen and Laura Rombach.
