Southam Joins Randall at Olympics

James Southam, left, joins Kikkan Randall on the 2010 Olympic Cross Country Ski Team as selections were announced Tuesday, January 19, 2010 by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. Accompanying them in Vancouver will be coach Erik Flora when the Winter Olympics open Feb. 12. The trio appeared at a press conference Tuesday afternoon at Alaska Pacific University, home of the APU Nordic Ski Center where the three train and coach in Anchorage, Alaska.

Anchorage's Kikkan Randall stretched her ski across the finish line and broke new ground for U.S. skiing today. Randall, 26, held off Finland's Pirjo Muranen in a photo finish in the Czech Republic to take silver in the world championship sprint, becoming the first US woman to win a world or Olympic medal in cross-country skiing.
