1A, 2A basketball tourneys start today

A week's worth of hoops -- 88 games over six days -- begins today at Anchorage's Sullivan Arena when Alaska's smallest schools gather for the state high school basketball tournament.

The Class 1A and Class 2A tournaments start today at 8 a.m. and wrap up Wednesday with the crowning of champions.

The big schools -- Class 3A and Class 4A -- play Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are available at the arena box office.

All-day passes are $12 (adults) and $7 (students and seniors).

Championship-day passes for Wednesday are $14 and $9.

Parking is free.
