Jen Seavey and Tom Thurston reached the end of the trail Sunday, arriving in Nome to complete their 1,100-mile Iditarod journeys. Seavey reached Nome at 3:47 p.m. in 43rd place and Thurston was about two hours behind her, finishing 44th at 5:36 p.m.

Nine remain on the trail. On Saturday, David Sawatzky of Healy scratched less than 22 miles from his destination, while on the final stretch between Safety and Nome. Iditarod officials said he walked in front of his 15-dog team for a few miles in an effort to spur them on before deciding to scratch.
