Eliminate it. (Ever wonder why the price doubled for a two year test, when it was the same as the one year test?) That aside, I would like to see a FREE mandatory safety check provided annually.
Walt Monegan
I would support doing away with the I/M program. Information I have seen suggests that the I/M tests do not play a significant role in improving air quality; what the I/M tests do is provide a funding source for city-wide air quality monitoring. We all support clean air but we should find a more appropriate mechanism to fund air quality monitoring than an I/M test which is not necessary.
Billy Ray Powers
We should not spend our hard earned money on I/M tests at this time.
Sheila Selkregg
I support clean air and the I/M is a tool that works. I would do away with the I/M if Anchorage had a better strategy to reduce the six tons per day of CO emissions. Currently, Anchorage has some of the highest levels of CO emissions in the nation. High CO levels are correlated with high levels of benzene and other carcinogenic chemicals that have a negative impact on human health.

I co-sponsored the ordinance that would have ended the I/M program. It was resurrected after I left the Assembly, which I think is a mistake.
Richard Wanda
I am against the program because too much tough city codes would discourage summer tourists and winter tourists. In that case, city would lose tax revenue.
Matt Claman
I oppose eliminating the I/M program.
Eric Croft
I believe we should get rid of the I/M program because the expense and inconvenience of the program exceeds its value in protecting air quality. I will investigate other ways to protect air quality that are less of a hassle for Anchorage residents.

YES/FOR. This program has served its purposes. We have the necessary Health and Safety codes to address individual emissions issues with vehicles. However, the MOA would continually monitor the environmental air quality to ensure Anchorage is in compliance with EPA standards.
Phil Isley
The I/M program seems to assist the government in licensing. It does little to help the people of Anchorage.
Paul D. Kendall
I am for doing away with I/M for residential users and think we can now begin to build a better community by moving into the new energy world of electrification. There are over 17 manufacturers of electric vehicles introducing new models of transportation in the next two years. We should all be discussing this, their viability in Alaska and the new industries and opportunities this will bring.
Jacob Seth Kern
My new vehicles don't need the I/M program for vehicles.
Dominic S.F. Lee
I am for doing away with the I/M program. We do not need it.
