A dish with a name like damn good reviews itself. Who am I to argue with a sandwich that's not only big, but has an attitude? This monstrous beauty showcases piles of succulent roast beef draped in Tillamook cheddar and topped with a salad of onions, tomato, avocado and romaine lettuce. It is the bread that sets this apart from other contenders though. Thick slices of the cafe's signature basil-flecked bread look like daunting bookends, but actually complement the sandwich perfectly, in both taste and texture. The first bite is a satisfying revelation. This sandwich is . . . well, damn good. I like it when my food lives up to the hype.
The sandwiches come with a side of pasta salad and a choice of bread or tortilla ( I highly recommend the house bread). Sweet Basil Cafe is all about choices and reasonable prices. If you can't decide between two things, just get both.
