Quickly becoming the hot spot in Anchorage for delectable tasty treats, Sugarspoon seems to be able to please even the most persnickety of sweets connoisseurs. With a Willie Wonka-like array of flavors, owner and sugary artisan Sara Spudowski has just unveiled the new summer menu.
There are several flavors worth a taste or 20, but one that stands out the most for its culinary genius is the white chocolate rhubarb frozen mousse. Swirls and dollops of vanilla bean creme anglaise across the plate are not just for garnish; they are there to perfectly compliment and calm the subtly tart rhubarb preserve. The two flavors come together at the base of a frozen pyramid of white chocolate mousse; a cool and creamy dream with a hint of rhubarb. What truly makes this dessert a summertime bliss is the added touch of caramelized sugar strips with crystallized ginger on top.
