TENAKEE SPRINGS CRAIGSLIST AD PAYS OFF; SCHOOL SAVED (KCAW, Sitka): Efforts by the Tenakee Springs advisory school board to recruit new families for the town have met with success. Two families, with a total of six school-age children, have made a "lifestyle choice" to move to Tenakee Springs after learning about the community through an ad in Craigslist and subsequent media exposure. A town spokesman says the board got a dozen serious responses to the ad, which was motivated by the school having too few students to warrant state funding. An Alaska Municipal League spokeswoman says more Alaska communities with too few students should follow Tenakee's example.
