Rail line reopened after flood damage repaired

Freight and passenger service on the Alaska Railroad has resumed between Anchorage and Fairbanks, the railroad said this morning.

Water and ice floes from the flooded Susitna River damaged track and the rail bed between Talkeetna and Hurricane, causing a shutdown of service this week.

Crews completed repairs late Wednesday, the railroad, according to railroad spokesman Tim Thompson.
