Grizzlies deny Wild first victory on road

The Alaska Wild were oh-so close to snapping a 17-game losing streak on the road until the Fairbanks Grizzlies rallied in the fourth quarter to win Saturday's Indoor Football League game 58-49 at the Carlson Center.

The Wild fell to a league-worse 0-7 and watched their intra-state rival improve to 5-3.

Alaska was on track to win its first road game in franchise history, taking a 36-24 lead into halftime -- something the Wild haven't done all season.

But the Grizzlies outscored the Wild 34-13 in the second half to win for the third time in four games and remain the second place team in the Pacific Division.

Antwon Harris' 50-plus yard kickoff return put the Grizzlies ahead 45-43 with 12:30 to go in the fourth quarter. From there, the Grizzlies never relinquished the lead.

The Wild scored with 32 seconds left to cut the deficit to 58-49. The Wild could have made it a one-touchdown game, but they were called for a personal foul on the touchdown.

The penalty forced the Wild to go for a long two-point conversion. The pass failed.
