ANCHORAGE

Memorial Day service, noon, Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Preliminary music begins at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony includes a color guard, rifle salute, and music by the Buglers Across America playing taps, the Air Force Band of the Pacific and the Midnight Sons Barbershop Chorus.

American Legion Post 1 observance, 11 a.m., Anchorage Memorial Park cemetery; a moment of silence will be observed and a bugler will play taps.

Korean War Veterans Association, Archie Van Winkle Chapter Memorial Day observance, 9:30 a.m., Delaney Park Strip, Ninth Avenue and I Street; participating are the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, Rep. Don Young, acting Mayor Matt Claman and representatives from the Air Force and Army; Father Norm Elliott is the main speaker. Theme is the 55th anniversary of D-Day.

Annual Memorial Day Car Show, noon-4 p.m., Sam’s Club, 3651 Penland Parkway. Anchorage Corvette Association fundraiser will benefit Ronald McDonald House. Burger or hot dog, chips and a soda, $5.

MAT-SU

Veterans Wall of Honor Memorial Day service, 1:30 p.m., Mile 35.5 Parks Highway, next to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
