The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says a light earthquake rattled homes and businesses at 8:53 p.m. Friday.
The tremor was centered about 4 miles southwest of Ester and 12 miles west of downtown Fairbanks. It was six miles deep and followed by a few light aftershocks.
Preliminary magnitude was measured at 3.72.
A 3.59 quake also centered near Ester was recorded on May 23. It was followed by several aftershocks.
