A Wasilla man accused of pushing his girlfriend out of a moving vehicle early Monday has been charged with felony assault, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers in Talkeetna got a report at about 12:20 a.m. that a 25-year-old woman had suffered serious injuries to her right side -- leg, ankle, arm, shoulder and back -- after her boyfriend pushed her out of the vehicle near Parks Highway Mile 133. Troopers say the woman had been arguing with her boyfriend, Kenneth Christenson, 51, when he opened the front passenger door and forced her out. The 25-year-old woman, whom troopers did not name, got tangled in her seat belt and was dragged a distance while Christenson drove on, troopers said. It was not immediately clear how fast the vehicle was traveling or how far it dragged her. Christenson eventually stopped the vehicle, got out and began beating her, troopers said. Then he got back in and drove off. Troopers stopped him near Mile 50 on the Parks about an hour later. Christensen was booked into the Mat-Su pretrial facility without bail on the assault charge as well as charges of driving under the influence and misconduct with weapons, troopers said. The woman was taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital to be treated for nonfatal injuries, troopers said.
