Mexico in Alaska is just that, a restaurant full of dishes associated with the country. The spot cooks up carne asada, enchiladas, huevos rancheros and a spicy-chocolate mole sauce that earns it rave reviews and the right to put the phrase, "We serve only Mexican style" on its menus.
All that authenticity just makes the crispy dog stand out. It's a hot dog stuffed with cheese, wrapped in a corn tortilla and fried. Then it's topped with sour cream, cheese, shredded lettuce and tomato chunks. You can order two a la carte ($7.75) or as a lunch special with rice, beans and a Mexican iced tea ($9.75). This dog might not have the pure-bred pedigree of the restaurant's other dishes, but it's still a contender for the blue ribbon.
