Cordova snowstorm

Cordova residents are tunneling out after several snow storms moved through Prince William Sound.

January Valdez snowstorm

Heavy snow pounded Valdez and Cordova on January 6, 2012, after the town received 19.2 inches Thursday from the Prince William Sound blizzard, making for a season total of more than 20 feet. Meanwhile, Nome is having its worst cold spell since 1989.

Colony Christmas

Christmas lights and decorations are up in Palmer, AK on Thursday December 9, 2010 as the town gets ready to celebrate Colony Christmas. The festival kicks of Friday and runs through Sunday. Colony Christmas features hay rides, a bon fire, art exhibits, a ball, a lights parade and numerous other activities. Jim Brown created the light rope moose driving the train.

Sandhill Cranes

Sandhill Cranes at the Matanuska Experiment Station on Saturday August 22, 2009. The cranes have up to a 7 foot wing span and are among the tallest birds in the world. They gather into flocks for the migration south.

Meet your Alaska Farmers

Farmer Arthur Keyes offers fresh picked celery to sample at the Kenley farm on the first Meet Your Alaskan Farmers tour on Friday, July 24, 2009. Keyes was one of the organizers of the tour.

The Mat-Su Farm Bureau organized the first "Meet Your Alaskan Farmers" tour recently. Participants visited four farms in the Valley and were treated to a catered sit-down lunch of elk, buffalo, vegetables, produce, strawberries and ice cream - all Alaska grown products. The tour was organized to promote farmer's markets and the local products readily available at the markets.

Governor's Wasilla Picnic

Thousands of people attended the Governor's Picnic in Wasilla, Friday, July 24, 2009. Sarah Palin served up hotdogs, signed autographs and conducted a military appreciation ceremony.

John Evingson competed on a two-person team in a 12-hour ride at the Arctic Bicycle Club's 24-hour race started on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the trails of Kepler-Bradley State Recreation Area near Palmer.

The Arctic Bicycle Club's 24-hour race started at noon Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Kepler-Bradley State Recreation Area. Solo riders and teams competed in 12 and 24-hour races.
