PILOTS: vs. Oregon Black Sox, 7 p.m., Mulcahy Stadium (AM-590) BUCS: vs. Mat-Su Miners, 7 p.m., Hermon Brothers Field (AM-1080)
AROUND THE HORN: The Pilots and Bucs kicked off the season with a bang Monday, playing shutout ball until Gunner Glad delivered a walk-off double for the Pilots with no outs in the bottom of the ninth. The Pilots' 1-0 victory came in an exhibition game during which both pitching staffs turned in admirable efforts -- four Bucs pitchers allowed just two hits and four Pilots pitchers surrendered just one hit. Bucs starting pitcher Ryan Cloud pitched the first six innings and gave up one run, struck out three and scattered five hits when the Bucs cruised past the Elmendorf Eagles 16-2 Tuesday at Mulcahy Stadium. The Bucs (1-1) played with 12 of their 25 players, and used assistant coach Ryan Leake on the mound. Leake walked one, gave up one hit, and struck out four batters.
