A resident at 17428 S. Juanita Loop called firefighters at about 1 a.m. to report the fire burning in an upstairs bedroom, firefighters said. Eleven units responded.
Crews arriving on scene found flames burning through the roof of the single-family, two-floor home. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
All occupants were evacuated safely, though a dog was killed. Fire damage was contained to the upper floor and the roof. The blaze was apparently caused by an unattended candle, firefighters said.
The residents were being helped by friends and family.
