AROUND THE HORN

-- The Anchorage Bucs and Glacier Pilots prepared for their head-to-head meeting Wednesday by absorbing defeats Monday night. Mat-Su pitcher Clayton Ehlert allowed just two hits over his six innings to pick up a victory for the Miners. A two-run double by Mat-Su's Nick Cox gave the Miners a 3-0 lead, and they never looked back, even though the Bucs mounted a short-lived two-run ninth-inning rally.

Brian Bellow hit a home run for the Bucs and Eddie Young had two hits.

But the Miners outhit the Bucs 12-7.

-- The Oilers made a fifth-inning sacrifice fly hold up for the winning run at Coral Seymour Park, downing the Michigan Monarchs 3-2. Five Oiler pitchers combined for the victory.

-- And second-baseman Eric Lane pounded out three hits as the Oregon Black Sox beat the Pilots 3-1. Anthony Burke was the winning pitcher, and Brett Williams picked up a save.
