AROUND THE HORN

-- The Glacier Pilots defeated the Lake Erie Monarchs 7-2 Thursday at Mulcahy Stadium.

Casey McCollum led the Pilots' offense, with two base hits and two runs scored.

Relief pitcher Bryn Calhoun earned the win -- his second of the season.

-- Brian Bello scored the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk-off walk that drove in Kellen Kiilsgaard for the Anchorage Bucs' 8-7 victory over the Athletes in Action at Mulcahy Stadium.

The Bucs scored in each of the first five innings and AIA tied the game 7-7 in the eighth with a two-run hit by Brian Kolb.

Bello finished with three RBIs for the Bucs, who took the lead in the Alaska Baseball League standings with a 4-1 league (7-3 overall) record.

-- The Fairbanks Goldpanners chipped away at the Oregon Black Sox' seven-run lead, but fell 8-6 Thursday at Growden Memorial Park.

Jerod Berggren whet 2 for 5 and drove in two runs for the Panners, and Oregon's Austin Wooldridge finished 3 for 5, scored four runs and smacked two homers.

The Black Sox improved to 5-1 in Alaska.
