I would like to thank Mayor-Elect Dan Sullivan and his Transition Team for the Public Forums they held earlier this month. I attended both Anchorage forums and there was another one in Eagle River. Mayor-Elect Sullivan plans to hold another Public Forum in Mountain View.
Many Anchorage residents attended and most who came, testified to give an opinion about city government and stated suggestions, concerns and/or praise. Citizens spoke about excessive taxes, public safety, the homeless, the city's budget shortage, Industrial Arts needed in high schools and discrimination.
Mayor-Elect Sullivan also gave out the transition e-mail address Mayoraltransitionteam@muni.org in case anyone didn't have an opportunity to speak or wanted to attach additional materials or thoughts to his/her subject matter. Mr. Sullivan and his transition team were polite, receptive and personally spoke to several individuals who had testified, at times handing out business cards.
Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Dan Sullivan on his mayoral victory and thanks for the noteworthy Public Forums and unique opportunity to voice our views to you about city government.

Juneteeth showcased great talent
Thank you for the wonderful Juneteenth Celebration on Friday. It was a beautiful thing to see vendors come out in support and the great up and coming talent we have here in Anchorage. The best of the so far was BLAACK, that guy can rap and move with the best of them. I wish him much success and I thank him for including Anchorage, Alaska in some of his songs. He did us proud ya'll,,,he did us proud!

Prevo is all about Prevo
I happened to catch Jerry Prevo on the news last night discussing the 'gay' rights issue that is in the spotlight currently.
I had a very unpleasant flashback to 20 some years ago when Mr. Prevo dubbed himself the leader of the 'Moral Majority'.
He hasn't changed much. Back then all his advertisements for his church were pitching that people should 'come hear the word of Jerry Prevo'. At first I thought I'd heard incorrectly, shouldn't it have been come hear the word of God? But, sure enough, every time I listened to the radio, it was still come hear the word of Jerry Prevo.
If there is a God, I'm betting she doesn't tune in the Jerry's self-aggrandizing rhetoric. She's making her own judgments, as it should be.

Brainwashing at its finest
I took detailed notes at the three assembly hearings on ordinance 64. All of the testimonies against the ordinance used the same handful of arguments. Nobody bothered to create their own examples of legal loopholes, so the dreaded ‘bathroom scenario' was used dozens of times.
It is perfectly obvious that this portion of the population was never taught to think for themselves. I blame their educational system, which teaches them to parrot the words of their leaders, ignoring critical thinking altogether.
The teens I debated religion with were perfectly happy and modestly intelligent people, or seemed so. They opposed ordinance 64. All asserted that the gay people they knew were good people and good friends.
However, they wholeheartedly believed that they were wicked in their behavior. They were simply told this and accepted it at face value. They did not question it at all. These ignorant children grow up to be ignorant adults. How tolerant can they be, when they were taught that the gods of all other religions were dead?
