A friend was doing some work at the new Hula Hands' restaurant on Fireweed Lane and said the smell of the food was making him want to eat instead of work.
The spot opened about a month ago with the same flower print tablecloths, island music and tropical plants used to create a friendly feel at the original Mountain View location. The menu hasn't changed either; you can still get specials such as laulau (a taro leaf stuffed with pork bathed in coconut milk) as well as teriyaki chicken and beef dishes. The Kalua pig plate lunch ($7.50) includes two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. The tenderness and flavor of the pork is great and is complemented nicely by the rice. For this price you get a good meal and might even have leftovers.
