BUCS: vs. Miners, 7 p.m., Mulcahy Stadium (AM-1080) MINERS: vs. Bucs, 7 p.m, Mulcahy Stadium (AM-1430) AROUND THE HORN -- Mat-Su's Ryan Cole struck out Josh Meagher to end the ninth inning with the potential tying run at second base, lifting the Miners to a 2-1 victory over the Glacier Pilots at Mulcahy Stadium. Cole racked up his fourth save despite hitting the leadoff batter to put a man on base. The Miners scored both their runs in the first inning, loading the bases with a double and a pair of walks to set up D.J. Gentile's two-run single. The Pilots got one run back in the sixth when Drew Heid, who doubled and stole third, scored on a groundout. -- For the second straight night in Fairbanks, rain was the big winner. Wednesday's scheduled doubleheader between Athletes in Action and the Goldpanners was washed out and rescheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday. AIA and the Panners were rained out Tuesday too, and that game has been rescheduled for July 30. -- The Peninsula Oilers play their league opener tonight against the Pilots. Admission is free.
